The Role of Chairs
The role of the Chair of Shaping Thurrock is to lead the partnership and provide direction for the future development of the partnership.
The role of the programme board Chairs is to ensure that programme boards meet regularly and provide quarterly reports to the LSP Board highlighting action that needs to be taken to advance progress in relation to strategic priorities. Programme Board Chairs will ensure that the membership and terms of reference of programme boards are reviewed regularly to ensure that capacity matches the demands of the Board's work programmes.
- The Healthier Communities Partnership is co-chaired by Lorna Payne and Barbara Stuttles.
- The Sustainable Communities Programme Board is chaired by Tom Gardiner and Bill Newman
- The Children's Trust Board is chaired by Jo Olsson.
- The Thurrock Community Safety Partnership is chaired by Ivor Harvey.
- The Community Involvement Board is currently chaired by Graham Carey.
The Role of the Representatives
Business
The role of the business representative is to contribute to the work of Shaping Thurrock by providing a generic perspective on behalf of the business community. The business representative will liase and consult on behalf of the LSP Board with colleagues within the business community and ensure that the views offered to the Board cover the variety of different perspectives that might emerge. In turn, the business representative will be expected to feedback information from the LSP Board to the wider business community with the support of Thurrock Business Association.
Community
The role of the community representatives is to contribute to the work of Shaping Thurrock by ensuring that the Board is made aware of the way in which the community can both contribute to and be affected by, the plans and actions that are developed as part of the wider Community Strategy. The community sector representatives are drawn from the membership of the Community Involvement Board, this includes the Chairs of all Community Forums within Thurrock.
Voluntary
The role of the voluntary representative is to contribute to the work of Shaping Thurrock by ensuring that the Board is made aware of the resources and expertise the voluntary sector can offer in the development and delivery of plans that are endorsed by the Shaping Thurrock Board as part of the wider Community Strategy. The voluntary sector representative is nominated by the Board of the Council for Voluntary Services within Thurrock.
Public
The role of representatives from public organisations within Thurrock is to contribute to the work of Shaping Thurrock by ensuring that public sector resources and expertise is optimally positioned to support the achievement of the Shaping Thurrock vision and strategic goals that flow from the wider Community Strategy. Public sector representatives are also responsible for ensuring that their organisational strategic plans are aligned with those of Shaping Thurrock and that where there is any conflict of interest this is brought to the Board's attention.
