The Healthier Communities Executive has been established as a programme board of Shaping Thurrock since September 2005.

The overarching aim of the board is to develop and drive the strategic direction of health and wellbeing of the population of Thurrock. In doing so the executive will:

  • Ensure implementation of a healthier communities strategy, identifying key priorities for the next 10 years in relation to the wider Sustainable Communities Strategy;
  • Ensure that the healthier communities strategy feeds into the development of priorities for sustainable communities, safer communities, and children and young people;
  • Ensure that the partner organisations within the healthier Communities Executive, adopt the aims and objectives and endeavour to implement them within and through their own organisations; and
  • Ensure that local people are at the heart of the strategy and that they are fully engaged in its development through the healthier Communities Executive itself and the Community Involvement Board.
