Business Crime
The Thurrock Community Safety partnership aims to reduce business crime. To do this we have set up a business crime forum with Lakeside and The Junction retail park.
We will be measuring business crime through the following indicators:
- non domestic burglary
- robbery of business property
- fraud and forgery
- cheque and credit card fraud
- making off without payment (petrol stations)
- shoplifting

Securing your Business - Self Assessment Tool
The Home Office has published a new on-line 'Securing your Business' self assessment tool on the Home Office website at www.homeoffice.gov.uk/secureyourbusiness This takes business users through a series of questions to test your security and crime prevention arrangements. It offers practical suggestions on what steps you might take to improve these where gaps are identified. It will be followed in due course by a simpler version developed with the Design and Technology Council which will be more suitable for the very smallest retail shops who might lack access to the internet.
If Businesses require further help after completing this self assessment please contact the Crime Reduction Officer for Thurrock - Alan Twine on 01375 362135.
