Drugs & Alcohol

  • 1 in 5 teenagers say their friends pretend to take drugs.

  • 'Drugs' come in many forms and you can 'talk to Frank' about all illegal drugs, alcohol, solvents/gases and tobacco.

  • Young people are drinking twice as much today as they did 10 years ago.

  • Many young people live with a parent or carer who has a problem with drugs or alcohol - if you're one of them you can get advice and support at Childline 0800 1111 or go to www.childline.org.uk or www.parentsusingdrugs.org.uk

Positive Activities for young people

Are you looking for positive things to do in your leisure time?

There are many ways to spend your free time. You could get involved with your local community, take up a new interest or relax and unwind with friends.

Positive Activities are all about providing fun, exciting and rewarding opportunities for children and young people. A positive activity can be anything from performing arts, play, sports and recreation, or simply taking part in a local youth club.

In Thurrock there are public, private and voluntary organisations providing a range of positive activities for children and young people 5-19 years.

Please visit the Positive Activities page where we've put together some of the options available for spending your free time in a rewarding and hopefully interesting way.
